Manley Bay Day Trip
Today we were fortunate enough to have good weather on our day trip to Manley Bay. We caught a ferry to the Manley Wharf and had some spectacular views of the Sydney bridge and Sydney Opera House. The boys enjoyed a game of Aussie Rules on the beautiful beach there and we were also able to enjoy a spot of shopping too. We all enjoyed a coastal walk and had a fantastic day.
St Joseph's College Man of the Match
Well done to Doug Stewart from the 1st Squad and Joe Matysiak from the 2nd Squad for receiving Man of the Match. Here they are receiving their crystal kangaroo award. Well done boys!

Australia zoo
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed Australia Zoo. Even those with snake phobias (Ed Keohane). After watching a croc show at the crocoseum and the tiger show, the kids enjoyed a day full of koala cuddling, kangaroo feeding, snake handling and elephant feeding. There were some impressive animals there and we were also fortunate to experience a new part of the zoo called 'Africa'. The boys played a prank on Mr Cathcart during one of the croc shows, as shown in the photos. The weather was fairly kind to us and we had great fun.
The Blue Mountains
Wow! What an impressive excursion. We took a cable car up to the top of the Blue Mountains and saw the Three Sisters. Following this we walked to see a stunning water fall and then travelled via the steepest train in the world (fact) to walk around part of the national park further down. The views can only be described as out of this world! Please await further pictures...
Sydney... We have arrived!
We have arrived in Sydney and so far we are having a great time. On our first day here we saw the Sydney Bridge and Sydney Opera House and spent a relaxing afternoon by the Harbour. This is the view from our rooftop terrace of the YHA we are staying in. Please await further photos of the group at the Opera house.

Ipswich Grammar Match Report
Well done to Jack Hockin who received Man of the Match for the first team when playing against Ipswich Grammar School and Ben Saunders who received Man of the Match when playing for the second team. Here they are receiving their awards. Well done boys!
Netball match report v Ipswich Grammar School
A team match report
The A team were up against a tough opposition when playing against Ipswich Grammar School. The girls received a warm welcome from the school. It was a competitive game where the girls improved after a slow start but unfortunately it ended in a loss. There were however some exceptional performances.
B team match report
The b team played the best netball they have played so far on tour. They really jelled as a team and came on the court really focussed. A combination of really tight defence, with many interceptions made by Raeesah and SOphie W in the circle, and several centre pass turnovers made by Jasmine K. Along with great attacking movements and feeds into the circle from Zoe, Amandeep, Amie and Lucy meant that the game was extremely close. In the last quarter it was goal for goal but unfortunately the girls lost 14-12 overall. Unlucky girls.
C team update.
During these matches the c team enjoyed a friendly match versus a younger Ipswich Grammar Netball team. The girls look forward to their next match in Sydney.

Netball matches versus AB Paterson
A team match report
Initially the A Team were a little shocked to have such a large audience, with all the rugby boys cheering them on. But after the first quarter, they got used to the crowds they soon picked up their game. There was excellent movement in the circle from Jess Martin, great shooting from Sophie Le Marchand, tight defence from Megan Evans and Carys Harfoot, Jasmine Pusey and great teamwork in bringing the ball down the court from Hannah Swallow, Jenny Mckay, Leonie Brown . Unfortunately, the game ended in a loss but the girls put up a fight and showed some excellent play! Player of the match was Jess Martin.
B team match report
The b team had a fantastic game. By the end of the first quarter they were drawing, at half time they were loosing 11-9, but unfortunately AB Paterson picked up the pace in the last half and won overall 24-14. Mrs Hall was very proud of the B teams performance. They were communicating and reading off each other well throughout the game. Player of the match goes to Sophie Watson. She adapted her game play excellently and made listened to the feedback given throughout the game, making the necessary adjustments.
C team match report
With this being the c teams first game together verses AB Paterson, Miss Donnelly was so proud of the girls performance. They had several training sessions over the days of the gold coast carnival and all the girls applied what they had been taught. Mrs Donnelly commented that the girls made excellent progress and really adapted their game play. Unfortunately the game ended in a loss but the girls thoroughly enjoyed the game and experience. Well done to Danielle who received player of the match.

Surfing gold coast- rainbow beach
What a fantastic day! Beautiful weather, a 'home and away' beach with white sands and crystal seas. The surf lessons were great fun and a lot of pupils were able to stand by the end of the session. We did have some secret pro surfers joining us, I.e. Shivali Prinja, Sophie Watson, Lucy Taplin and Leonie Brown. Such a fun day! Check out the photos on the surf company website http://www.facebook.com/pages/Walkin-On-Water-Surf-School/325960233968 where you find hundreds of photos of the day and hopefully you will be able to spot your friend, son/ daughter/ self catching a wave or two. Just check out the photos on Facebook in the three BGS albums.
